6LACK feat Future – East Atlanta Love Letter

This tune is one of the standouts on an already superb album and carries the signature calm 6LACK vibe. Even with Future, the big star, on the feature it feels like there is a lot of honesty on the track and that it was recorded in an intimate studio session.

Mac Miller – Hurt Feelings

Mac’s passing early in September was one of the saddest moments in music in recent times. When his latest album ‘Swimming’ came out this summer, I have to admit I did not properly listen to it maybe because I was ignorant or it was the hype around ‘Astroworld’. Nevertheless, to commemorate Mac I properly listened to this album and I am impressed; such a mature piece of work. This song has a more positive vibe but still very deep and retrospective, which I love.

Always Never – Return to Sender

This is why I am proud to come from Toronto. Time and time again there is a dope new act coming up and I love it when it’s that spacey, chill R&B Toronto sound reminiscent of the Weeknd’s ‘Trilogy’. This is one of my favourite recent discoveries and the self-titled debut project is 14 songs deep with a consistent sound that can go on a loop for a stylish R&B experience. This is just one of the songs from Always Never’s album, but I suggest you get the whole thing.

Nasty C feat A$AP Ferg – King

A hard song with clever rhymes and one of the best Ferg flows I heard in ages. I was surprised to find out Nasty C is a rapper from South Africa and not another NY cat, as his style is very new New York. “I feed her Jollof just before I pipe her” – my African homies will appreciate this bar!

Young Thug – On the Run

A new one by Thugger that has his infectious style and the fun vibe, even if you don’t understand what he says. Some cool quotes and fun trappy sounds, best to be consumed while screeching in a car or vibing at a party.

Always Never – Canadian Dubai

Another one from the new Toronto duo, as I couldn’t just include one song from their amazing new tape. Makes me want to look at Toronto with a glass of wine from one of the downtown condo windows and reflect on life.
